We have been advised by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of important updates in relation to the US Visa Waiver Programme (VWP).
The VWP is administered by the DHS and enables eligible citizens or nationals of designated countries including the UK to travel to the US for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without first obtaining a visa.
There are key changes to entry requirements for travellers flying to/via or within the US which include:
APIS (Advanced Passenger Information System) - Continues to be mandatory when entering the US and will be captured by Capita Business Travel as part of your booking process.
ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) - Is still required by travellers to the US and you will need to apply for this directly. However, effective from 8 September 2010 this will be chargeable.
SFPD (Secure Flight Passenger Data) – With effect from 1 November 2010 this needs to be applied for at least 72 hours prior to departure.
If you are planning to travel to the US we strongly advise reading our Important Information document here.
